We believe that learning involves
Developing confidence and an understanding of children's own strengths

developing the skills and competencies: educational, technological, problem-solving to lead successful lives in a swiftly changing world
making children sensitive to the beauty of the world, learning about its problems and thinking about the processes to solve them

THE SCHOOL
At Gurgaon Valley School we believe that:
All children are naturally motivated to improve their world and the right education can provide them with the plans and desire to do so. Children learn in multiple ways and need the flexibility to explore, experience and solve problems for themselves. Learning involves setting yourself high targets, understanding how to achieve them and developing the discipline to do so and the school plays an essential role in encouraging this.

Learning Approach:
Learning is based on experiencing, touching and problem solving. Research and constructing their own knowledge is essential for children's development. Students must have skills in communication and mathematical thinking. Students must develop a moral understanding of how to improve their world.

CURRICULUM
Our curriculum activities would involve:
o Identify and collect different types of ants on the school site
o Measure and test groundwater on the school site.
o Create an informative multimedia presentation on the effects of building development in a given area.
o Think about: what type of individual is required to maintain and improve a sustainable future?
o Involving students in local community programs enable a wide range of activities for students to develop and strengthen their concepts of civic responsibilities

The curriculum lays strong emphasis on a constructivist approach where the child is the architect of their own knowledge. Underlying every learning topic is a concept-base which encourages children to see the connectors between different subject areas. In every subject area, there is a strong emphasis on equipment and materials which promote investigation rather than simply being told by an adult.

We believe that story telling, ceramics, play, learning musical instruments, swimming, dance, drama are as important for learning as science, maths and social science. In the week's timetable therefore, each area finds a place.

Children in the lower primary school will spend time on: Circle Time, Show and Tell, Maths, Language, Our World, Dance, Music, Free Play, and Activity Room.

As a part of their social developments, students learn how to share and accept responsibilities such as cleaning up their area after eating, solving problems by working together, finding new ways to cross the rope bridge in the play area…even the simplest activities are designed to develop the competencies they will need in their lives.
